Farmgate Sales
All our produce is currently sold 'at the farmgate' - this just means that we sell directly to our customers with no middle man adding to the costs. We believe it's important to know where your food comes from, for your sake and for the sake of animal welfare. Sourcing food from local producers can also contribute to improving the quality of animals' lives and helps to minimise environmental impacts. We try to produce high quality meat and eggs using methods that promote animal welfare and support our beautiful countryside. The animals are born, bred and reared on the farm and killed only a few miles away at a small abbatoir with the highest animal welfare standards – nothing even goes to market if we can avoid it. We do it because we love having the animals around - and we love talking about them so if you would like to see where your meat comes from, farm visits are always welcome - but for biosecurity and health and safety reasons can only be by appointment.
Buying from us.
If you are interested in buying pork, sausages or lamb, please contact us (preferably by email) and we will add you to our customer list. We will then contact you a week or two before each sales date with details of what's available so that you can place your order if required. We will let you know the cost and the date and time for collection of your order from the farm. Pork and sausage collections are usually on Friday afternoons, lamb collections are usually Monday afternoons. We usually have pork and sausages available every couple of months while lamb is usually available between April and June.
Pork and Sausages
All our pork and sausages come from our pedigree Tamworth pigs and are really very tasty! The Tamworth is one of our oldest pig breeds which unfortunately became very rare in the 20th century for various reasons (this is why the pedigree bit is so important - keeping track of the purebreds is the only way to ensure the survival of the breed). It does have a higher fat content than commercial breeds but that is why it has so much more flavour than anything you will buy in a supermarket!! The pork is available as quarter, half or whole pig - all jointed ready for the freezer. Sausages are available as plain pork or pork and sage and come in 1kg bags.
Quarter pig - £65
Half pig - £115

Lamb
We rear our lambs following the traditional season so that they are allowed to mature slowly on a grass diet. Most of our lamb is sold as hogget which means it's between 1 and 2 years old. This results in meat with full flavour - one of our customers commented that it tastes like lamb used to...
It's available seasonally as half or whole lamb, again jointed ready for the freezer.
